Designing and validation of the educational package of cognitive-emotional self-regulation strategies for aggressive students from military families

Abstract

The aim of the present study was to compile and validate the educational package of cognitive-emotional self-regulation strategies for aggressive students. The qualitative research method and the statistical population included all psychology professors of the university, experts and therapists in the field of psychology and the purposeful sampling method. Based on the saturation interview, the sample size was 10 people. The data collection tool was a semi-structured interview. An educational package of cognitive-emotional self-regulation strategies was developed for aggressive students from military families. Thematic analysis method was used in data analysis. The results showed that cognitive-emotional self-regulation strategies were formulated in 9 sessions, which include: awareness of feelings and emotions, skills to understand emotions and choose a situation, cognitive assessment with the aim of recognizing emotional experiences, skills related to prevention, introduction of self-disempowerment and coping strategies. With it, expansion of mind and attention, training of self-regulation strategies, and adjustment of response and correct expression of emotion were achieved.
