Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of group training in the form of imagotherapy on cognitive emotion regulation and marital conflicts in soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This study was a quasi-experimental design with pre-test-post-test with an experimental group and a control group. The target population was soldiers diagnosed with PTSD in the 550th Army Hospital of Mashhad in 1403.. Then, group training in the form of imagotherapy was implemented for the experimental group for 10 group sessions per week, one session per session for 90 minutes. The data collection tools included the Marital Conflicts Questionnaire by Sanaei (1379) and the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (Gransefki and Karaij, 2006). In order to analyze the data, the analysis of covariance test was used with the help of SPSS software. The results show that at a 95% confidence level, group training in the imago therapy method has a significant inverse effect on cognitive emotion regulation with an effect size of (-0.63) and marital conflicts (-0.68) on the affected soldiers. Also, at a 95% confidence level, group training in the imago therapy method has a significant and inverse effect on maladaptive emotion regulation strategies with an effect size of (-0.54) and a positive and significant effect on adaptive emotion regulation strategies with an effect size of (0.65). increasing personal relationships with relatives (-0.41), reducing effective communication (-0.41), and emotional reactions (-0.33).
