[English]

The present study aimed to investigate the effect of acceptance and commitment therapy on rumination and marital burnout in women with military spouses. This study was applied in terms of purpose and quasi-experimental in terms of methodology. The research design included pre-test, post-test with a control group, and a one-month follow-up. The statistical population included women with military spouses. 36 women were selected as samples using convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to both control and experimental groups (18 people in each group). The data collection tools were Nolen Hoeksima and Maro's rumination questionnaire (1991) and Pines' marital burnout questionnaire (CBM) (1966). Acceptance and commitment therapy sessions were conducted for the experimental group based on the protocol of Hayes et al. (1999) as quoted by Salehi et al (1403) in 8 90-minute sessions (one session per week) for two months. Data analysis was performed using mixed analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc test using SPSS 2 version 27 statistical software. The results indicated that acceptance and commitment therapy had a significant effect on rumination and burnout in women with military spouses (p<0.001). The results also showed that acceptance and commitment therapy had a significant effect on rumination dimensions (expressing, dwelling on, and depression) and marital burnout dimensions (physical burnout, mental burnout, and emotional burnout) in women with military spouses (p<0.001). These practical results indicate the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy in reducing rumination dimensions and marital burnout in women with military spouses and recommend the use of this therapeutic approach in relevant psychological interventions.
